MINUS the volume controller. I can't get a peep outta the dang thing. Do you think that's because I don't have the controller? Is there anything else I can try that you might know of? I'm hesitant to spend $50 for one online without knowing if the sub/amp even is working...Toupeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12284936477938161936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6581506850628657590.post-20929838914434976292016-10-03T19:35:28.001-07:002016-10-03T19:35:28.001-07:00Hey Jake -- does the sub for the 5.1 Ultras requir...Hey Jake -- does the sub for the 5.1 Ultras require the volume control piece to work at all? I found the sub at Goodwill today, sans controller. I was gonna hook it up to some other speakers I had. I can't get a sound outta the thing at all... and I don't know if it's the controller missing or if it's busted. Any thoughts?Toupeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12284936477938161936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6581506850628657590.post-35855867456830300652015-04-13T22:34:50.617-07:002015-04-13T22:34:50.617-07:00Great article....I have a Klipsch ProMedia GMX D-5...Great article....I have a Klipsch ProMedia GMX D-5.1 computer speaker system and the control pod died. I have no idea how to do all u describe here, but wonder if u could build me a unit for which I would gladly pay? Love the speakers, but they r of no use w/out the control pod. I'm definitely going to be trying this, but I don't have any experience with Arduino.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14335598065675961618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6581506850628657590.post-19698447148394295992012-06-07T15:00:21.851-07:002012-06-07T15:00:21.851-07:00Yes, 7-bit addressing confused me to. I will definetly try the 0xc0 command when I will have some spare time and see if this solves my problem with double data sending.

Currently I'm working on a new temperature/humidity regulator project with web server and multiple expansion ports based od Mega 2560.

I will follow your blog in hope to see more of your future projects, if you are planning them :)Neoxyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00795404403742685950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6581506850628657590.post-86570925054483280172012-06-07T13:51:50.952-07:002012-06-07T13:51:50.952-07:00Wow, nice project, looks quite a bit more involved...Wow, nice project, looks quite a bit more involved than mine. The only problem I had with the PT2258 was that Arduino wants the 7-bit I2C address, and the PT2258 datasheet gives you the address as 8-bit (because you never need to read from it) so I kept getting NACK on my address send. Somehow I had completely overlooked that and couldn't figure out why my Arduino was sending 0x10 instead of 0x88. I showed it to somebody else who instantly spotted my problem (and I felt pretty dumb). Once I dealt with that though everything worked great.
I did see that the datasheet recommends sending a Clear Register command [0xC0] on startup, which I didn't do because from what I saw the Klipsch box didn't do it, but that might be worth trying.Zurcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05288593270160828634noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6581506850628657590.post-14855074788880115992012-06-07T11:33:44.714-07:002012-06-07T11:33:44.714-07:00Nice work!
